If you end up liking the game each expansion is 30€ for a total of 60€ or you can bundle them and just pay 50€. That's it iirc, ofc you cannot do anything expansion related as a f2p don't own the expansion and the moment you get an expansion all those restrictions are gone and you are no longer F2P. This is obviously to avoid bots, but if you want to talk to someone without anyone more noticing, just invite him to your party and tallk in party chat. You have limited whispers and cannot mail items/gold to other players. The only items that you might need to buy but can't are the lodestones, but they are pretty cheap, so you can ask for a guildie to mail them to you, or you can craft them. This might seem like a big issue, but there are only a few items that you cannot buy from the core game, and you cannot buy items from expack ofc.
You cannot buy certain items from the trading post.

Some restrictions include less char slots (if you are going to play f2p as a demo you will not need more than 1 character) less bag slots (this can get annoying, but you have a full size bank (that can be expanded later) and a material storage, that for a new player is almost endless, so you won't have much to worry if you deposit materials by right clicking). You should see F2P as a very deep demo, because you can do a lot of lvl 80 stuff.

World vs World, a different game mode apparently doesn't hand them out for free though.ġ.st, yes a game is always worth it if you play for free.į2P has some restrictions that don't hurt when leveling and early lvl 80 (the max lvl) but can get annoying at endgame. So there is a bit a power that is bought but it doesn't set itself up as P2W as much as the natural power creep you expect from expansive contentĮDIT: As a comment pointed out, if you're doing PVP, the game will let you play with the elite spec's. If you're going into this for PVP, which is its own separate area rather than open world, you may be at a disadvantage, and you may notice that your allies in dungeons running these subclasses might be a bit more effective, and have more specialized gear, but the content of the main game is still able to be handled without it. The elite specializations and skills you get from the expansions are more powerful or grant more utility than you'll get from pure F2P most times. It's all endgame stuff.Īs for P2W, it's a bit complicated. Paid play is actually buying the expansions, which is it's own set of storylines and maps. It's more akin to Warframe's slots or cosmetics, where if you decide to drop cash in the store you'll usually have reached a point where you can tell if this is for you or not.
The developers have a couple QoL things they sell, but unlike the previously mentioned MMO, it's not the game carved up and sold piecemeal. The F2P component used to be the base game you bought outright, though there are some social functions that are restricted.
